Join SAYFTEE clinician and art therapist, Haeden Peaslee (they/them), in a workshop focusing on the ways that we as individuals under the trans umbrella can use art and other creative modalities to process and express ourselves around gender and transition.

During this 2.5 hour workshop we will:

- build community with other trans and nonbinary creative folks
- look at how others are expressing themselves for inspiration
- spend time brainstorming for your own individual work
- have open studio time to start creating
- come back together to share, receive feedback, and plan

Art materials will be supplied, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have a preferred medium!

NOTE: The date for this workshop is TBD. If you are interested in learning details when we schedule the workshop, please email Bea, admin@sayftee.com.

Haeden Peaslee (pronouns: they/them) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with specialization in Art Therapy from Lesley University. Haeden is a white, transmasculine non-binary, neurodivergent individual working and living in the traditional territory of the Pawtucket and Massachusett Nations. They have been providing individual, family, and group counseling for children, adolescents, and young adults for over 6 years. Haeden brings both professional and personal experience to their work with LGBTQ+ identified youth and families at Sayftee.

Haeden provides a combination of talk, play, and art therapy to clients. They utilize a client centered and strengths based approach with a focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship between therapist and client and encouraging self compassion. In the counseling room Haeden integrates beliefs in trauma informed care, anti-oppression work, neurodiversity, health at every size (HAES), and gender affirming care. Haeden practices principles based therapy which means they integrate tools from approaches such as CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), SMART (sensory motor arousal regulation treatment), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), narrative therapy, and other counseling theories based on their clients needs.

Haeden specializes in supporting trans and nonbinary youth, young adults, and their families in both identity related areas as well as other mental health concerns. Through experience as a direct care counselor prior to receiving their Master’s and subsequently as a clinician in group home settings, Haeden has often worked with youth and families involved in the foster care system or post adoption. Haeden also has extensive experience working with youth and young adults with depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and autism.

Haeden enjoys supporting colleagues in the field in building their understanding of LGBTQ+ identities and the ways those identities can impact individuals in the counseling process. In 2015, Haeden served as  assistant for a course in Human Sexuality and Clinical Practice in Art Therapy, including using their personal experience as a transmasculine and non-binary individual to teach a lesson on the use of art in processing and documenting transition. In 2018, Haeden was a guest speaker in a course on Art Therapy with Traumatized Adults at Lesley University, discussing the impacts and prevalence of trauma in the LGBTQ+ community.

Haeden lives north of Boston with their partner, cat, and quite a few fish tanks. They enjoy baking, gaming, making art, and taking care of their plants and pets.
