About the Facilitators:

Helen Staab (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Simmons College. Prior to joining SAYFTEE, Helen worked as an In Home Therapist with children and their families throughout the Greater Boston Area.

In therapeutic practice, Helen uses a strengths-based and client-centered approach, integrating her background in child development, family systems, and trauma-informed practices. Her experience working with multi-stressed families combined with training in conflict transformation allow Helen to approach family work with compassion and empathy. Humor and fun are an important part of the therapeutic process for Helen, and she enjoys developing creative individualized activities and interventions. Recently she has been creating ‘virtual’ therapeutic spaces that leverage interactive and visually engaging options for telehealth practice.

In addition to clinical social work, Helen has extensive experience with youth work including group facilitation and program design. She is a passionate advocate for queer youth, most recently serving as an adult advisor for BAGLY, the Boston Alliance for LGBTQ Youth. Helen brings this passion into her clinical work and is particularly enthusiastic about working with families around how to support young queer family members.  Helen lives in Boston with her partner and her cat, Shackleton the Lionhearted.
